Rajini advises fans to stay away from cigar, liquor for a happy life

Superstar Rajinikanth has advised his fans and others to make optimum efforts to stay away from smoking cigars and drinking liquor so as to enjoy their lives to the fullest.
Speaking amid fans at his Sri Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in Kodambakkam, Rajini said “My first film with legendary film-maker S.P. Muthuraman Sir was the hit film Aarilirundhu Arubadhu Varai; I learnt to be punctual only from that period onwards. I feel shy in admitting it now but I was a drunkard at that time due to which I reported late for my shoots; I went late to the shoot for three consecutive days.
“Once he sent out all the crew/technicians and spoke to me when I was alone stating that as I was the hero, I should set an example by turning up for the shoot at the right time so that others could follow it. From that day onwards and till today, I have never reported for the shoot even a couple of minutes late. I appeal to all my fans and others to stay away from smoking/drinking habits.
“These habits take a huge toll of our physical and mental health; the line of thinking is bound to suffer and take a negative way leading us to take wrong decisions which might even cost us our precious lives. If you can’t stop it altogether, at least develop the habit of drinking/smoking only occasionally,” Rajini concluded.
